When it comes to theater arts, individuals come together as a group to make it happen. Nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to the 50th anniversary of the Juilliard Theater Division and philip stoddard artist juilliard actor, director and vocalist. While the Drama Department has been around for 50 years, there are still a number of unheard voices and untold stories yet to come. For, each year when seniors graduate, the next year brings new energy and new performers to the school. In addition, the legacy of those whom have been a part of Juilliard will live on in the history, performances and projects left behind.
One actor, Philip Stoddard, has graced the theater stage several times over during the years spent at Juilliard. Now, in this last year, Philip continues to do so with lead roles in different upcoming productions. Whereas, once having graduated in May, the actor, director and singer will begin a guest artist role as a soloist with the Israeli Chamber Project based in New York.
One independent project which has won the attention well beyond the grounds of Juilliard is that of OperaCamp. For, Philip created and operates a lab where students can gather to create new and interesting operas. In the first year, there were six operas created and performed throughout the school year. In the second year, directors and students are hopeful to surpass six in hopes of creating seven or eight operas, all of which will be original and unique.
While still acting and directing during this last year at Juilliard, some past favorite opera and theater credits according to Stoddard include, Tommy Albright in Brigadoon At The Chautaugua Institution, Mozart's Don Giovanni and the title roles of Woyzeck, King Lear and a colonel in Father Comes Home From The Wars, the most recent of Philip's work.
While music and theater arts are definitely the favorite of Stoddard's interest and hobbies, Philip also enjoys organic farming, volunteering, teaching, yoga, traveling and cooking. Whereas, becoming involved in organizations such as the Israeli Chamber Project where Stoddard will perform with other soloists as a guest artist is also an opportunity Stoddard looks forward to a great deal.
