Not long ago, there was a renewed interest in yoga and its variations, such as pilates and tai chi. While this movement was mostly popular with women, men also began to find interest. Overall, people began to buy yoga pants for its comfort and slightly flared leg, which was a change from the form fit of previous stretch pants.

The t shirt began to see new life when independent designers and larger brands saw how fabric blends and creative ideas could make the tee more versatile. Besides different colors and cuts, artwork or text statements have made these a big seller in recent. Sales have also risen due to the use of strong social media campaigns or using a celebrity to endorse.

Another factor that has more people wearing casual gear is a decreased need to dress up for work, as telecommuting is becoming the workplace trend. Working at home allows people to dress as they please and not deal with things like dry cleaning bills. In some companies, people have stopped wearing suits or button down shirts and choosing soft t shirts and jeans or casual slacks.

If a retailer only sells t shirts, they may want to consider stretch leggings since they seem to be a permanent fashion staple, like denim. Stretch pants work for just about every age group and are a practical fashion choice for the student, busy mom, or home based entrepreneur. People are choosing comfort over expensive designer fads with limited use.
