Common Beliefs On The Usage Of Scary Voodoo Dolls

By Daphne Bowen

Telling stories is one of the most popular and effective means of entertainment and information dissemination in the past. Its because of those stories that modern generation can take a glimpse of what life was like before the digital age. This does not mean though that all you hear from your grandparents have factual basis. Some of them are myths flowered by the practice and popular culture of their time.

Different countries have their own set of myths and legends. From the origins of their place up to the history of locals, they have always been associated with legends and stories that have been handed down from one generation to the next. Same can be said with the ever popular scary voodoo dolls.

They are famous accessories in some current horror films and are highly commended for their wide variation. Some see them as a bad omen while others find some good things hidden on these grotesque items. If you are interested about them, then the following common myths might help you have a fast idea on how other people see them.

They make curses possible. Its easy to dismiss curses. But if you talk with those who strongly believe on the this thing, it can be seen as something that is terrible in nature. In the past, persons who are termed as witches are believed to possess voodoo dolls to cast some curse on a certain person or community.

They may heal common illness. At the opposite side of the argument come those individuals who believe that these dolls are tangible gifts from the heavens. They think its a sort of holy item that can help cure diseases if you only believe and ask. Believers on this side portray an angelic image of this voodoo item rather than a gruesome one.

Soul transfer. Some call this reincarnation. Others term it as possession. Whatever is the case, this mechanism comes to life with the belief that dolls are capable of housing souls of any people.

Murdering. As terrible as the thought could be, there are really people who believe that they can use voodoo items to murder people. By making one as a representation of an actual thing, they will be able to do anything to the doll which is expected to take the same effect on the actual person.

Independent, supernatural life. Its creepy to think about dolls being used for witchcraft and all. But its even creepier if they are thought to have a life of their own, something which you are not in direct control of. According to some legends, they are entities who are capable of staying alive at night.

No matter how believable these stories may seem, its important to remember that they are all myths. Which means, there aren't any solid proof supporting those stories behind them. It can be entertaining to hear how different cultures portray this item. Just make sure you zap yourself back to reality when you find yourself believing it.
