The action of fish is a way of gathering that is as old as time itself. The method of building a reel or net is one of the earliest ways for people to get the abundance of fish for consumption and later use. This is especially true if one is living in an island or an archipelago as these plays are surrounded by bodies of water and became the chief way of getting food for the people who are hungry and have not land to toil.

The method has grown over centuries and the modern era has made gathering even faster than before. With the use of massive ships to collect hordes of fish and other seas creatures, the speed and amount caught within the day is incredible. The need to make boats faster and more durable was evident during the early days of 19th century. The focus were to make ships that could withstand the harsh conditions the ocean presented. A bigger hull was the ideal for it could carry the men to much more dangerous waters and carry them back safely.

The coming of a phenomenon called the industrial revolution sparked the best invention for ships in the last century. Early on during 1870, the steam powered engine was invented and introduced. This made the boats much larger in size and enabled them to carry much more fish. Thanks to this, the use reel wires became frequent to hold down the nets of boats.

The first steam boats were made of wood but were replaced by sturdier steel material. The advantages of steam boat fishing were many. Because the boats were made of steel, they could travel even faster due to its engines and could push through tough weathers. The boats and expeditions cost higher though, but the perks were great.

The advancements has helped the commercial aspect as well. Thanks to these, the age of exploration came and various places like the Americas were discovered and modernized. Travel would became easier and many could now travel aboard without much trouble.
