To protect animal rights, the use of real fur has been limited and for that reason, fake fur is gaining popularity. You can hardly differentiate between faux fur area rugs and natural fur rugs because they look almost the same. The good thing about faux fur is that it is highly resistant to high temperatures and is not much affected by insect damage. You could attempt cleaning your own rug without fearing that you would damage it. It could be either hand washed or machine washed depending on factors like manufacturer's suggestions and the length of the fiber.

Usually, it is advised that if the fur length is a bit longer then do not attempt to machine wash the rug instead you should hand wash it because washing in the machine could end up creating knots. Always follow the guidelines provided by the manufacturer in this respect to ensure that the product retains its shape for a long period of time.

Its not a difficult task to take care of a synthetic rug in fact, its much more convenient and feasible as compared to the real thing. Use a mild washing detergent and adhere from exposing it to direct sunlight as it could damage the fibers as well as the color of it/

Machine drying is also not recommended because it ends up creating knots and there is a chance that the synthetic fiber could get damaged. So, its better to air dry your rug indoors where its all bright and airy. Avoid putting it in a spot that is exposed to direct sunlight. You could machine wash the product only if your machine has a milder setting.

Color fading is completely avoidable provided you do not expose it under direct sunlight. Also, whilst drying it, always put it on a rack or hanger instead of a flat surface because when you put it on a flat surface it takes a lot of time to get it all dried up. To speed up the drying process you could put up a fan and it would be dried in no time.

The fur might get tangled and looped after washing but it can be untangled again. Use a soft brush and gently comb down the rug until it appears to be smooth and fluffy again. To make it even more smooth and fluffy you could spray a bit of fabric softener onto the rug and then work away with the brush. Never try to brush too hard because the fibers might come out.

If you keep such products in good condition it means they would last you a life time. You should keep them neat looking as they could brighten up any room you like. Its all about how motivated and dedicated you are to take care of them in a proper manner.
