The women are expected to dress in loose fitting clothes. This is aimed to reduce the sexual attention the woman draws, by covering up the body in a manner that ensure that it does not distinguish or outline the shape of the body underneath. The clothes they wear should also be dark and thick enough to cover the real color of ones skin, while shiny and bright colors are forbidden.

Islamic men also have to wear head coverings and have a modest style of dressing up. To cover their heads, turbans, scarves are the main options. A common example is the kuffiyya which is a checkered scarf.
